What was your motivation? What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
My motivation to lose weight was being a new wife and mother. The pandemic and the greater health risks associated with obesity also motivated me. My mother passed away at a young age, and I wanted to fight to be there for my daughter.
How did you change your eating habits?
I had already been a vegetarian for the past eight years. Instead of eating bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, sugar, and drinking pop or juice, I decided to eat more fresh vegetables and drink more water.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I did HIIT routines that I found on YouTube every day, alternating between 30 minutes to 1-hour 30-minute sessions.
What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My starting weight was 281 pounds on June 23, 2020. By December 26, 2020, I weighed 181 pounds. Now, I weigh 177 pounds. My goal is to get to a healthy BMI of 149 lbs.
What is your height?
My height is 5’5″.
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
I have not had any weight loss surgery or cosmetic surgery and do not plan to.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
I learned that consistency is key. Also, you reap what you sow. Having a belief system is important. I have faith in God and in myself.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
My advice to women is to start now with what they have. Take it one day at a time, and your hard work will pay off eventually.
