When did you start your transformation journey?
I started my journey in 2017 at my highest weight of 274 pounds after having my second child. In 2018, after a scare with my brother almost losing his life, I decided enough was enough, and I wanted a change.
I started taking my journey seriously in August 2018 when I weighed 252.6 pounds. By April 2019 (8 months later), I had lost 77.6 pounds. I currently weigh 175 pounds.
I’ve lost over 100 pounds total, and I’m keeping it off. I fell in love with working out and helping women, so I decided to become a personal trainer. I did all of this while working full time and being a mom and a wife. Anything is possible if you put it in God’s hands and you let him guide you. I hope my story inspires just one person not to give up.
What inspired you to keep going, even when you wanted to give up?
I was tired of constantly starting over, and my account on Instagram kept me accountable.
How did you change your eating habits?
I started a low sodium diet. I also stopped eating greasy and salty foods. Once I lost the weight, I realized that it was all about balance, and I didn’t have to stop eating my favorite foods.
What did your workout routine consist of? How often did you work out?
I started walking at home with YouTube videos, and I jumped rope every day until I fell in love with it. I worked out 5-6 days a week. I did all my workouts at home in my little living room or my driveway.
What is your height?
Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
No weight loss surgery.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
It’s about putting yourself first and making sure you work on the mental part too. At my smallest, I still dealt with seeing that big girl in the mirror. This was a lifestyle change for me.
What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Don’t give up when you don’t see changes. Take lots of pictures. Don’t let the scale define you or control you. Go by how you feel in your clothes.
